Research -
For my research on this project I were looking at different hair products that 'FUDGE' had brought out too do this I looked on their website too find out more information about their hair products also whilst I was researching into the 'FUDGE' website it gives you experts tips of how too use the product that you have bought or are thinking of buying. Also within my research I didn't just use the internet, I also looked through magazines and books; one book I particularly look at was a book called TIGI: The Unity Collection, I loved looking through this book as it has different hair styles, and had a step too step guide on how too do some of the hair styles. The final piece of research that I looked into were a research table on formats, platforms and compression glossary.
Contextual Studies -
For my contextual studies I were looking a Matthew Barney's Cremaster Cycle (Cremaster 4) He has made 5 films all together, but the fourth one was the first one he filmed. Cremaster 4 were filmed and set on the Isle of Man, The film is about the meaning of life basically, the films imagery is the island's folkfore, annual tourist trophy motorcycle race and wildlife. This film was very disturbing for me, personally I did not like it one bit, I don't understand that was an 'art form'
Technical Skills -
For my technical skills I practiced numerous things, the one thing I loved doing the most was product photography, personally I really enjoyed doing this as I love doing photography based work. I found it really weird how you could just make a pen look amazing by the way you shot the photograph. The light tent really helped the photograph look more positive, too say this was my first time of doing product photography I was really pleased with the results I got. Whilst I was doing product photography I then went on too research it, I then came across a website called 'Packshot Factory' which is a company who specialises in product photography. I was really pleased with the work that they had done, and I would like too try and do one and see if I could get as good as they did.
Idea Generation -
At first I didn't know what too do for my final outcome, I didn't really fancy doing a filmed based advert because I couldn't decide how I was going too edit it all together. So I decided too do a still sequence. As I said in my research I looked at the TIGI book and this is where I got my idea from, it was quite a basic idea but my opinion of the final outcome was good, I was pleased. I decided too have my model sitting on a chair and simply putting their hair up in a bow, also at the end I had my model show of the 'FUDGE' product.
Final Outcome -
I enjoyed this project, even though it wasn't a big project we had too think of how too shoot the film or the photographs. This project were really fun, I really liked creating the photographs for the promotion of 'FUDGE', we could either shoot film or take photographs so I decided too do a stills photo sequence because I was looking through the TIGI book, and thats where I got the idea from, I chose the idea from where they did step by step how too put your hair up etc or getting it cut. I asked a student in my group too model for me, I wanted the model too gradually put her hair up in a bow by using the 'FUDGE' product as well. When I put all the photographs into Premiere, I thought about putting the photo sequence into black and white but then I thought if I colour casted it, it will look much better. Also I have added any music into my sequence as it is really short and I couldn't find any music too go with it. Overall I am very pleased with the results and I would like too do it again.
Conclusion -
Throughout this project, I have understood now have they do adverts and how they put it together.
The strengths I had throughout this project would be the product photography, I really enjoyed doing that task. And also it showed me how other professionals do product photography as well. Also my other strengths would be the writing part, iv'e noticed from all my other projects that my writing has improved a lot.
My weaknesses I had throughout this project would probably be my final outcome, like I said before I am very pleased with my final outcome but I think I could of done a lot better, if I have time too go back I will do another 'FUDGE' advert for sure.
