Roger Ballen - Director.
A quote from Ballen;"I was actually able to make a music video that had an aspect of art in it," says Ballen. "There's some complex meanings. There's some metaphorical meanings. It wasn't just this kissy, sexy, funny, stupid type of stuff. This kitschy stuff you see over and over again -- because this wasn't kitschy I think it was a very refreshing transformation of a music video. It was different, completely different and it came from a different place I think that's why it became well-known."
Die Antwoord found Roger Ballen when he moved from America to South Africa. Ballen offered Die Antwoord an eye catching video, but the show proves that in the exchange, the rave rap act allowed Ballen's work ti reach a wider audience. When Roger Ballen directed the music video for "I Fink U Freeky," a video which had almost 30 million views. The two rappers, Yolandi Vi$$er and Ninja, spit rhymes while taking part in a strange / freaky series of scenes for example the one where she finds a large bug when she is cooking.
My Opinion.
My opinion on this video is that I find it really good, the video is so interesting / freaky at the same time. I'm really glad I've found this video directed by Roger Ballen because after I did my photograph samples of his work I were thinking where do I go from this and now I know exactly where too go.
My own edited video.
Underneath is my own edit of the video, I have edited the video in 'Premiere' and put the video in black and white like the exact video above.
